Once I configure the proxy settings in my firefox. I keep getting the below prompt whichever site I surf. I’m using Firefox 3.6.
The proxy :8080 is requesting a user name and password. The site says:
- Type about:config in your firefox address bar.
- Click I’ll be careful, I promise button when you see the dialog box “This might void your warranty!“
- Look for the below config under “Filter:” and set it to false
network.proxy.share_proxy_settings
network.automatic-ntlm-auth.allow-proxies
Thank you … my life is convinient !! otherwise every 2 min i had to enter the username and password!!
Wonderful! Thanks a lot!!!
oh my god, you are life saver, i hate it when it happens.
Thanks alot
user and password for proxy
Wow, this works! I never knew that browsers had an about:config feature. That is really cool.
The second configuration named above (network.automatic-ntlm-auth.allow-proxies) should ONLY be set to ‘false’ if your organization does not require a proxy to be used. Otherwise, you’re probably violating company security policy. There’s the banana peel. Step wisely.
