1. Hello,

   I am having problems with my dvd/cd writer. My computer is recognizing it but when I try to burn a cd it does not read the drive or the blank cd. Can anyone help?

3. I am rebuilding an ancient PC for a customer and have to use Windows NT because that is what their software requires. Of course they didn’t have a backup of the hard drive and the cost of updating the machine components which require NT is prohibitive. So I was very surprised that NT somehow installed itself with high encryption, yet the included SP6a CD only had the standard version. I was even more surprised that no one, except you, is providing the download anymore.

4. Thanks, need this very much, MS don’t allow public to download files related NT 4.0 anymore (except some), but the important one are gone, such as SP6a.

6. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I am an old astrophysicist, and do mumerical intensive computing. You solved half of my problems: I needed wINnt4.0 serv pack 6a for i386 – and I got it thanks to you (I went around microsoft and literally tens and tens of sites, that said they had the sp6a, BUT WOULDN’T DOWNLOAD NOTHING… :-))) BUT ALAS, I have an Alpha workstatio (Digital personal workstation 433a) with its RISC Alpha processor 21164 at 64 bits…. but for that I need the WIN NT4.0 SERV PACK 6a, yes, but…. for the ALPHA and not I386 processors. The WIN NT and all its service packs, when the damned Microsoft produced them, ALL contained BOTH the version for I386 (which I got from your site) AND the version for the Alpha: errr… am I being too optimistic if I ask your help in finding this WinNT4 servicepack 6a IN ALPHA VERSION??? I hope you can help me, but if not, thanks a lot anyway.

   Took me quite a while to find the alpha version, but there you go. Do feedback if the files works for you as I don’t have an alpha system to test out the service pack.

10. Hey there, Thans alot for hosting these items. i have been looking for the high encription version for days. The other sites who claim to have it has a dead link or page not available.

11. Thankyou very much, We have some older CNC machinery still in perfect working order with no longer support from the manufacturers software wise. Very painful when you have to russle up old video cards and their drivers are only for SP6.

    It was hard to take, that when I went looking for the High Encryption version of sp6 and it was no where to be found. I would say I cannot believe Microsoft killed the link but it is indicative of how they think:- “Who cares about old customers. Let them buy new again”.

    A sincere and strong thank you to you for having taken the time to post it. It took me two days to find it but what a great feeling when I finally did. I will not again misplace a copy of it. You saved me a lot of money and time.

13. I’ve been a part of the IT community for over 30 years and I’m absolutely insensed that Microsoft or any other vendor doesn’t support their legacy products. Thanks for providing this download. My customer very much appreciates your efforts.

15. Please help.
    I am trying to install Windows NT 4.0 on DELL T1500. The Windows setup starts normally, but when on the bottom of the screen appears “CD ROM FILE SYSTEM”, it restarts again and again. I tried to intall in a PC with AMD Semptron 140 Processor but the result is the same. Is it possible to install this operating system in recent machines?

16. Excellent! I finally got to reinstall my NT4.0 with SP6a (slipstreamed to make a single install) thanks to your hosting the SP!!!!!!!
    In my opinion, NT4 (although slow) was one of the better versions of Windows (thanks also to IBM for prompting Gates to work on it while half heartedly working on OS/2).

25. Hey…Even though Windows 2008R2 Internet Exploder reports the download as unsafe…I gotta think that this is safe and this is a god send. I don’t know why Microsoft doesn’t want to host this file anymore. I can find downloads for Linux original versions but not for NT 4.0.

    And it was the high encryption version too, I don’t think I ever got that one originally.

45. While transferring archives to 3TB Advanced Format drives the power went out. SP6A was lost from source and destination. Now it is restored. I remember when lifetime support was the rule. The new standard? If it ain’t broke, buy Windows 8! Thank you very much! Peace and prosper,

    I have an old NT4 Server that I need to generate a 2048 CSR for an SSL certificate. I was told that installing SP6a would enable me to use higher encryption. I installed SP6a but cannot see within IIS’s Key Manager how one would go about generating a renewal request for a 2048bit SSL. Any help would be appreciated.
