Finally after 5 months of saving up, I manage to purchase all the hardware that I need to assemble my first ESXi Server 3i 3.5.0
Below is the configuration of my ESXi Server 3i.
Make sure the hardware you getting is supported by the VMware. You can check the VMware Compatibility Guides
Main Component
- Intel Core 2 Duo CPU E6750 @ 2.66Ghz
- Asus P5Q Deluxe
- 8GB Memory
Storage
- Adaptec RAID 2405 4 PORT
- 04 x WD Caviar Black 640GB (RAID 10)
Network Card
- Intel Pro/1000 T Desktop Adapter
Did the P5Q Deluxe work for you on ESXi4 ?
Hi JT,
Yup it works for me on ESXi4.
Did the P5Q Deluxe work with ESXi4 using the motherboard SATA? or is this the reason you needed to use the seperate Adaptec RAID controller?
Thanks in advance.
Hi, you are right. This is the reason y I use an adaptec card.
Hi,
Can i know how you managed to get ESXi5 running on yoru system? I am running E8500 & Asus P5Q Pro.
When i tried to do a ESXi5 inside vmware workstation, it throws out a error
1) This system is only running on 1 core when E8400
is dual-core.
2) There is no virtualization in the BIOS. This is
not possible when i have already enabled Intel VT.
Any ideas? I am pulling my hair over this issue.
regards,
Alex
How’s the performance? Any improvement over running VMWare Workstation in a host?
